Nathan was named as the
administrator of the estate for his father, John Paschal Glover. It so happened that
Nathan was away fighting against the Northern Aggression . He was wounded at
Chancellorsville, his unit was a part of Gen'l Stonewall Jackson's Corps in
the assault on Hooker, and in the two days, there were 24 killed and 125 wounded.
Nathan was wounded and lost the use of his left hand. What follows is
the letter that Nathan wrote home to his brother Edward E. Glover. This letter
was written into the court records in Barbour County, Alabama.

Dear Brother,
I will try to answer your letter of some
time ago. I am sorry I could not do so sooner. I was fatigued in the march we had
taken when drawing the Yankees from near this place. Since that time I've been sick
most of the time with Typhoid Fever. I am now recovering up a little. It seems
very hard to get well here. I was better nine days ago when I come to this place than
I am now. I had some hope of getting a furlough when able to travel, but it seems as
if our authorities had much rather a man would die than to let him go home. Could I
come it would be impossible for me to take charge of that business, bound to the
government as I am for three years. I know not what was fathers object in appointing
me executor. I hope you will take it unto hand at once and proceed to wind it up to
the satisfaction of the heirs and creditors. I should feel most afraid much in
feelings if there should be any business about the matter. You will no doubt find it
very unthankful business but somebody has it to do . Hoping this may find you and
family well. I close for the present. Address me as above.
Your Brother,
N. O. Glover
