Mustered at Savannah 3 May 1862, to serve 3 years, as 1st Lieutenant ,
elected to Captain, 11 January 1863. Wounded in leg at Baker's Creek,
Mississippi 4 July 1863.


Captured at Vicksburg 7 July 1863. Exchanged 1863. Wounded again 1864 near
Macon, Georgia. Admitted to the Ocmulgee Hospital at Macon, Georgia, on
account of wounds of leg, 4 October 1864 to the close of the war.

John  Blackstone Fowler was born in Crawford County, Georgia  7 October 1826 and died in Taylor County Georgia  in 1911.

He was a schoolteacher prior to the war.

He moved to Taylor County where he was elected Clerk of Superior Court and later
Treasurer of the County. He is buried in the Butler City Cemetery
