He moved to Barbour County Alabama along with his father and other family members about 1840. He remained in Barbour County, Al. until 1910 when he was placed in a hospital in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Andrew was a landowner and farmer in Barbour County was well respected by all that knew him. He lived in precinct 6 Williamson, which is about 10 miles from Clayton, Al. When The War of Northern Aggression erupted Andrew joined Kolb's Battery Light Artillery on April 30, 1862 he was 31 years old at the time. He was the Company Teamster. He was wounded in Tennessee when kicked by a mule. He served through the entire war and surrendered along with all the other troops in Macon, Ga. April 20,21 1865. The war was now over. Andrew returned home to Barbour County. Things were not the same. From 1858 to 1865 Andrew and his family had lost many of their most precious family members. His sisters Susan K., Mary Jane, his uncle Samuel Vining, cousin Anna Vining, his mother Drucilla and his father John P. Glover. During the war he had lost his brother Samuel and his nephews James and John his cousins Eli S. Glover and Thomas J. were also dead. His brothers Nathan, William E., Edmond and John Paschal would all die many years before him. These were hard times emotionally and financially. The carpetbaggers and scalawags were trying to steal and rob the citizens of their money and land. Barbour County was under federal troops as was most of the South. Andrew knew he could count on his family. Not one square inch of land belonging to the Glover family was lost after the war. The family supported and stood by each other. This was not the first war this family had to fight. Andrew's grandfathers John Glover and Samuel Paschal had fought in the American Revolution. They survived that and they would survive this.
